Four-Season Protection, Three-Season Weight
The Summit Shelter began as a challenge: build a tent that a mountaineer would trust at 14,000 feet but that a backpacker would actually carry there. The result is a 3.2kg freestanding shelter with two full vestibules, DAC Featherlite NSL poles, and a 40D ripstop floor with 3000mm hydrostatic head rating.
The color-coded pole system eliminates fumbling in bad conditions. Red clips to red, blue clips to blue — full setup takes under 4 minutes even in gloves. Two doors and two vestibules mean no crawling over your tent-mates at 2am, and each vestibule provides nearly 2 square meters of gear storage.
Ventilation was a primary design concern. Twin ridge vents stay open even in rain, and the mesh inner canopy provides floor-to-peak airflow that prevents condensation without sacrificing warmth. The 20D Sil-Nylon rainfly is seam-sealed at the factory and treated with a DWR coating that maintains effectiveness for years of field use.
